I write
I have diplomas in journalism and creative writing and recently completed Australia’s Capstone online editing course. My career has included radio news and sport, community newspapers, public relations and strategic communications.
These days I freelance for organisations and businesses throughout New Zealand.
I run workshops
I lead fiction writing workshops for small groups (maximum of six people) that include writing exercises so participants get to practise the individual components that come together to make a "good" story.
At my non-fiction writers’ workshops you can learn about promotional copy, full communications plans, and feature writing.
Whatever ideas you have, the way you communicate them is crucial.
I edit
My proof reading and copy editing work includes books, annual reports, newsletters and brochures, and masters and doctoral theses for English as second language speakers.
You supply your text and I return it marked with suggested changes. I check for correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, consistency, readability and style. It’s all about making your words as meaningful and effective as they can be.
Pricing
Proof reading $50.00 an hour
Proof reading and copy editing $60.00 an hour
Students $35.00 an hour for proof reading and $40 for proof reading and copy editing
While I do my best to give an accurate quote, the time it takes will depend on the quality of writing and number of words on a page.
